In an age when the cultural influences between east and west are rapidly mingling, the creative amalgamation of the vibrant musical cultures of Berlin and Budapest has found a new platform with the project two-B-music. Formed in 2006, two-B-music represents a multi-faceted platform for innovative conceptual exchange between the artists and creative talents of the two cities, involving fashion shows, exhibitions and party series, with a main focus on the release of inventive music. Concentrating on a sound that can only be described as emotional minimal tech-house with an artistic disposition, two-B-music brings together 2 of the most exciting upcoming talents from their respective settings for their inaugural release – Germany’s Evil Hinko and Hungary’s Laurine Frost.
With more than a decade of experience behind the decks and a hand in the studio since 2000, Evil Hinko, known as Ivo Hinkel in real life, has finely tuned his skills in crafting the perfect tek-laden grooves for driving the dancefloor to fits of frenzy. Getting his start in 1993 as a DJ at many of the most legendary techno clubs in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Ivo quickly found global success in the studio through his partnership with Benno Ruhdorder as the duo Kontrasequenz. After a successful album and a handful of singles, Ivo struck it out on his own in 2004 with his first solo single, the well-received “Literal Interpretation EP” on Electric Delicate Records. His first release under the new Evil Hinko moniker, the tongue- and dancefloor-twisting minimalistic “Gedankensprung” (released on Gedankensport Rec.) represented a hugely successful step, finding support in the upper echelons of DJ culture from luminaries such as John Digweed, Robert Babizs etc. With the track appearing on Digweed’s own Transitions Vol. 2 CD released on Renaissance, the fervently eager wait for the follow-up finally nears its end with the release of Wirrsinn.
Despite a relatively short discography, Laurine Frost has already achieved success with a handful of tracks released on rising label Salto Recordings and veteran outlet Hadshot Haheizar. Also intimately connected to the Coldfish project of Zoltan Toth (who are rumored to share the same body), Laurine’s unique brand of kinky minimal funk has been gracing the hottest minimal-tek dancefloors as well as the charts of many of the most influential forward-thinking DJs.
